Dayra Foundation for Culture and Art
European Awards …Egyptian Creativity
Literature. Cinema. Art & Architecture
This book is part of a joint cultural project that is co-funded by the Delegation of the European Union in Egypt, together with the implementing body – Dayra Foundation for Culture and Arts. Being an embodiment of Euro-Egyptian cultural cooperation, this project chiefly reflects the common interest in promoting the positive values of creativity in different human domains, for the sake of Egyptian, European and all mankind development.
Backgrounds
This common interest initially emerged in response to the pressures exerted by globalization, materialization, overpopulation, educational system limitations and the marginalized role of individuals and civil society organizations. These forces have somehow hindered creativity, and deprived the genuine talents from healthy communication with the public, which has consequently degraded the public taste and ability to appreciate the value of creative works.
On another hand, creativity is known to have always been a major driving force towards individual well-being and communal development. A through look at human history confirms that creative scientists, thinkers and artists have always led the enlightenment of their societies and changed their life. Therefore, collective efforts are essentially needed to promote creativity and improve public awareness of its significance, towards the attainment of individual and social development. Shedding light upon good practices in creative and innovative works, may well contribute to the accomplishment of this objective. Promoting dialogue and extending cultural links among all mankind populations is an irrefutable asset in this regard too.
The inter-Mediterranean communication between Egypt and the EU countries has always set an example for mutual cultural understanding and positive creative interaction. Encouraging such Euro-Egyptian partnership will undoubtedly extend public awareness and promote creativity in Europe and Egypt.

The Egyptian rhythm of innovation
The impact of architecture was pretty obvious in his ideas, that he did not allow any absurd non-functional element. He always thought that a space should best lead to another through the most direct route, just as cinema scenes should sequentially evolve

The way fro Venice 1995 to Aswan 2010
As soon as we started to work , the festival administration decided to cancel the new idea, and limited the competition to visual arts without architecture. Having already started the work, we decided to carry on with our combined art - architecture challenge
